Thanks to all who replied.
Seems obvious now, but all instruction that I could find (including those
with Ethernet Switch) said something along the line of "attach the uplink
to the router or other device", and as Smoothwall is a Firewall and router
I believe, I naturally attached it to the uplink.
As soon as I changed the port connection from the Uplink Port, everything
was fine.
