I'm using OSS on sid / Linux 2.4.x. I've tried ALSA a couple of times, but
haven't had much success. (That said, it worked great when I tried out Linux
2.5.x a little while ago.)
Given that multiple programs can open /dev/dsp for writing with the SBLive,
and I don't require MIDI or anything zany, OSS is fine. It just works. ;-)
