I just want to remove them from the smbpasswd file.

I know for removing them from the system you use `userdel` ... just 
wondering if there is a similar utility for smb.

Depends on how you got them in there...

question is too quick.do you want to stop useres using samba or the whole
box.. removing them from the passwd/smbpasswd file should be good
enough.. I'm sure samba has some block itself you can specify in its
smb.conf..
