Hi,

Has anyone experience with a Speedtouch USB adsl modem?
I've been given a green one (is that the same as the purple model 330?)
to connect a dedicated firewall running IPCop through. But,
according to the HOWTO http://linux-usb.sourceforge.net/SpeedTouch/howto.html
it requires several packages and kernel 2.4.2 or later.
The latest IPCop V1.2 runs kernel 2.2.23. But the IpCOP www site
claims that IPCop now supports speedtouch.

The smoothwall www page makes a bit more sense. It claims that
smoothwall 2.0beta4 (kernel 2.4.19) has "increased support for USB ADSL
devices, including Thomson/Alcatel Speedtouch"

I suppose my question is what do I have to do to set up ADSL on
a dedicated firewall? Unless you're one of the developers, you might
have trouble changing kernel modules or anything else, as the whole
idea of dedicated firewalls is that they maximise security at the
expense of freedom.
