Hi all,
A few days ago i decided that my linux install was a tad old, so i backed up, formatted, installed redhat8.

Everything went well until i got to my sound card. its an onboard sis7012 which seems to be the chipset for Cmi8338 cards. This chip worked with redhat 7.0 with no effort on my part.

So after a bit of googling i found that sis had made linux drivers for this exact chipset, But they had compiled them with gcc 2.X and so they wont work with redhat8 ( and gcc 3 ).
Threads on the redhat mailing lists seem to consist of a whole heap of people with this problem, but without a solution...

Ive also checked out the alsa project, but the ( impressive ) list of supported cards doesnt include mine.

Anyone have any luck with this chipset, or any further ideas?

TIA,
arthur
