Faiyaaz,

I just want to check whether you _want_ to have your internal and
external devices set to the same network (you specify it as 192.168.1
here).

Because both devices are set to the same network, only one will provide
the default route. This would explain your ping issue. 

Quick Fix: Change your internal network to a different IP range such as
192.168.2/24. That way, your gateway will be able to differentiate
between the internal and external networks.
