Hi All, Okay, I installed woody and have encountered my first problem.
When I go type startx I get two error messages, firstly that it can't find device called "radeon" and secondly that it can not find any screens. I ran dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86 and entered the information including the BusID (PCI:1:5:0). It all looks okay, but won't start. If anyone has a radeon working under woody could you send your XF86Config-4 file to me so I can compare notes. I'm not trying Xinerama yet, so just a straight radeon install will do. Along those lines though. When I do get around to Xinerama is it alright to edit the XF86Config-4 directly or should I stick with dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86 which did not appear to have a "Xinerama option". On the plus side, I can surf the web using the text based browser, so the network is okay. I'm still GUI dependant (From Mac to Windows ... can you blame me!) so I'm prety confident once I've got a desktop I can start to sort my self out. regards mick -- SLUG - Sydney Linux User's Group - http://slug.org.au/ More Info: http://lists.slug.org.au/listinfo/slug
