James and et al: I went to the Master windows Lan setting and change TPC/IP to use a static IP with the following:
IP : 192.168.0.43 Mask : 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway : 192.168.0.1 I went to the Linux machine, and did a 'ping 192.168.0.43' and ping is passing successfully. From the windows master I did a 'ping 192.168.0.23', and this passes as well. So it appears I had the following problems: 1. Not setting an IP as part of the same Network; 2. Not allocating the IP on Linux; 3. Get the firewall to enable "eth0" as a Trusted Device. Now my main aim was get Linux to run from the master PC. So I opened cgiwin from master, and started it with X -query 192.168.0.23 and to my liking it brought up the Linux login screen, and it feels as if I am on the slave itself running Linux. I logged out of Linux and went to Windows 2000 on the slave, and changed TCP-IP to use the following: IP : 192.168.0.53 Mask : 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway : 192.168.0.1 From both the Master and slave PC the ping passes, and can also see the PCs across the network. But only one problem, when I click on the slave PC from the master, I get the following message "The Password from this user has expired" and I cannot access the PC. How do I fix this ? My ISP dial up seems to still be working. Hopefully I won't see any other problems. But in all I would like to thank James for all his help on this. You were the only one who gave some help, and stuck with me all the way. Hopefully this post will be of some help to others. Please let me know about my last problem which seems a bit minor.
