I'm running a UOW imap setup (on a mandrake box) for a client and recently got it working with SSL, port 993 and all that. Everything was working fine with a variety of client/OS combinations until the new windows XP machine turned up today and its Outlook started complaining about invalid server certificates. I haven't looked into the problem in detail yet but just wanted a heads up to see if anyone has had this problem.
When I first configured the client machine this afternoon it was all working just fine, but after I left the building (of course) i got a phone call saying the certificate error message had started coming up. I left the machine in windows update/download land so am thinking maybe one of the (alleged) security 'updates' clobbered the certificate handling? I'm just a bit perplexed because i (ahem) didn't even realise a certificate was involved, since Eudora 5.1(pc/mac) and Apple Mail (the other client apps using the server) haven't ever mentioned it to me.
Unfortunately getting the user to change their email app. aint an option at this point. (yes, boooo I know) And yes I know it's probably a bug in the client so i'm maybe way OT... :)
cheers, ..S.
