Thanks for all the responses. I have decided to use pix2tn:
http://wwwai.wu-wien.ac.at/~hahsler/pix2tn/ because it is simple, makes a medium-sized image as well as a link to the original, and just links to the images (rather than making a separate page for each one with prev/next links, which is really bad when the image is bigger than the browser window, yuck).
