Thanks to all who helped. Problem mostly resolved. Falls on sword! IAATS (I am ashamed to say) the mozilla proxy settings were not set up to let me browse to the CUPS server on my home LAN.
The problem still exists however of having to comment out lines referring to my home LAN in the /etc/hosts file when connecting to the Novell network at work. Gnome and OO.Org hang if the home host is referred to in /etc/hosts - "host blackbox does not exist on this network..." stuff. I have added the line "server-name blackbox" to blackbox's /etc/dhcpd.conf but my client seems to need the reference line in its own /etc/hosts. Any feedback on setting up laptops to talk to various servers would be appreciated. -- Laurie Savage ================================ Physics/Maths/IT Teacher Pascoe Vale Girls' College Pascoe Vale, Victoria, AUSTRALIA ================================ -- SLUG - Sydney Linux User's Group - http://slug.org.au/ More Info: http://lists.slug.org.au/listinfo/slug
