It won't install on Debian "through official channels", and you'd be hard
pressed to get a working install by hacking it all up using alien, etc.

There are a few people considering building Debian packages that include the
Ximian patches. Perhaps wait for those ports to come out? You could set up a
SuSE or Red Hat chroot and install it into that in the mean time. ;-)
