Well, if you have a php program that produces a pdf (say), sets the
content type etc correctly, and you view it in IE (don't know about
mozilla), you get the file correctly, but it will save it with a .php
extension.

What's actually *in* the file? Does it give anything away in the header?
what does strings produce?
