If I'm unlucky, that will lead me to have to upgrade the whole distro.
Does that work in RH? I thought upgrades didn't work smoothly, and
basically you had to do a fresh install of the new version and then
reconfigure all your local mods (like sendmail, internet connections,
etc.).

Well, I installed the ghostscript package from RH 7.2 already.

But I don't have freetype-2.0.3-7 installed - I removed it earlier.
(I.e. I removed freetype, not freetype2.)

Hmm. I think I'll leave it till next weekend then. Everything's
working, it's just that I can no longer use apt-get, and have to use
rpm manually (blech).
I have to break printing and lots of other stuff on the path that will
lead me to sorting everything out:
# rpm -e VFlib2-2.25.1-12 ghostscript-6.51-16.2
error: removing these packages would break dependencies:
ghostscript is needed by ghostscript-fonts-5.50-3
ghostscript >= 6.51-16 is needed by printconf-0.3.61-4.1
ghostscript is needed by gv-3.5.8-11
Forcibly uninstalling freetype2, in comparison, says it would break kde
and more importantly, X. Hence my reluctance to tackle things right
now.
That'll also give me time to complete my gentoo installation, since I'm
getting a bit fed up with RH due to rpm. apt-get seems to provide
similar functionality to what you get in gentoo - it's just that I've
discovered that I'm locked out of apt-get - at least at the moment.
