- interface sendmail is listening on (inet directive in sendmail.cf)
- it may be possible that the tcp wrapper is stopping the connecting - check the hosts.allow file
- check the access file for the sendmail configuration - make sure the ip addresses/network for your clients are listed as relayable.
and probably a number of others. The locations of the files mentioned depend on the system

Hope someone out there can help me. I am a Linux Newbie-- know enough to get lost half way.
I have set up a sendmail server - text only environment I can connect to it with outlook express on w2k pro to check mail I am unable to get it to accept mail. Outlook express timesout (set to longest time possible i.e. 5minutes) Sendmail logs show a corresponding Lost input channel from [hostname and IP] the test email says just that 'test email' no attachments etc. Where or what should I check/tick/lick/kick?
