Ok I gave up there were no modules for kernel 2.4.21 on the intel site. I went out and got a netcomm modem voice/fax/data modem.
Now this is the issue. I have used all my com ports on a really old machine. We have been using it as a mail, and fax server. What I have done is installed the internal netcomm modem and modules for kernel 2.4.21 installed. When I run vgetty this is what I get in the logs 07/16 16:18:33 LT0 check for lockfiles 07/16 16:18:33 LT0 locking the line 07/16 16:18:33 LT0 lowering DTR to reset Modem 07/16 16:18:34 LT0 send: \dATQ0V1H0[0d] 07/16 16:18:34 LT0 waiting for ``OK'' ** found ** 07/16 16:18:35 LT0 send: ATS0=0Q0&D3&C1[0d] 07/16 16:18:35 LT0 waiting for ``OK'' ** found ** 07/16 16:18:35 LT0 mdm_send: 'ATI' 07/16 16:18:35 LT0 non-numeric ID string: 'LT V.92 Data+Fax Modem Version 8.26a ' 07/16 16:18:35 LT0 mdm_send: 'AT+FCLASS=2.0' -> ERROR 07/16 16:18:35 LT0 mdm_send: 'AT+FCLASS=2' -> ERROR 07/16 16:18:35 LT0 detecting voice modem type 07/16 16:18:37 LT0 vgetty: Modem returned ERROR 07/16 16:18:37 LT0 vgetty: Modem returned ERROR can anyone help I want one modem to accept fax and one modem to accept voice for an answering machine. Has anyone tried this?
