Ok I just reboot the system /tmp is automagically cleaned out at reboot.
I started gdm and this is the message I got.

There is already appears to be an X Server on display :0.
Should I try another display number? If you answer no, I
will attempt to start the server on :0 again. (You can
change consoles by pressing Ctrl-Alt- plus a function keys
such as Ctrl-Alt-F7 to goto console 7. Xservers usually
run on consols 7 and higher)
yes/no

I am new to debian and have only been playing with it for a short
while. I have installed gdm_2.4.1.3-2 are there any issues I should
be aware of with debian and gdm?

Thanks

Kevin
