I was considering packaging an "iexplore" installer for Debian
yesterday. (download the freely available ie*.exe archive on package
install and set it up under a wine-using shell wrapper)

The IE (5.5sp2) license.txt says that you need to have a copy of some
microsoft OS to use IE, but doesn't actually say you have to run IE
*on* that microsoft OS..

(IE5.5sp2 works reasonably well under the latest (debian unstable)
wine version. crashes occasionally, but for simple pages it works
quite well (javascript and everything). half the memory usage of
mozilla too..)
