> I use Mozilla usually for my email and browsing, lately it fails to start, I
get about 2 to 3 seconds of start up icon in the menu bar, then it disappears - no mozilla.

My system comprises Mandrake 9 (2.4.19-16mdk), KDE 3.0.3 on an intel i686 chipset.

Mandrake 9.0? Comes with Mozilla 1.2.1 ?
Maybe try removing it via rpmdrake (that adds soft dunno the direct name for removal), and then readding it via rpmdrake? You wont loose you mail but you can backup ~/.mozilla/ to be safe.

What I have done is add 'cooker' sources, which are like debian testing/unstable packages. Which has allowed me to upgrade to Mozilla 1.4 (i love my moz). Buy like to do so it like 30megs _at least_. I had to upgrade to all there new releases of things like perl etc, and in the process is also moved my gimp to up 1.2.5 (it also auctually broke the shortcut, but i put it just as "gimp" and it works fine was something like gimp-print by default). In the end it was 90megs.
If your not on broadband and not hell bent on Moz, I would do this.

The info for adding a cooker source:
