Dear Slugs

I have Redhat 8.0 installed on my machine. I have recompiled my kernel - and everything is hunkey dorey with the exception that I cannot get my USB optical mouse to work with the new kernel. I have recompiled the kernel with as many possible combinations of modules included or not included w.r.t USB support. Basically I have resorted to trial and error.

I need to extract the original .config file from my original distributions compiled kernel (bzImage and various modules). Does anyone know how to extract it? I read somewhere this is possible.

PS: The original .config file is not included along with the distribution kernel source - merely a variety of recomended .config files for various platforms. This was my starting point .config file for the compile.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
