I have 8 Xerox printers connected to an e-smith box serving as a print server. My problem is lpd and one printer in particular, when jobs are sent (only Windows XP machines print to it), they spool and print correctly although sometimes lpd will stop on this one particular printer and lpd requires a restart to force the jobs to print.
