Default route being changed perhaps?  That's probably because you have
a GATEWAY line in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth1 (assuming
eth1 is your local LAN).  Delete it and reboot.

If that doesn't work, send me:

    /etc/modules.conf
    /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0
    /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth1

and I'll see if I can see anything else wrong.

I assume that's a typo and you mean "the same type".  Yes, there's a
problem in that you don't know which will be eth0 and which will be
eth1, and more importantly, it might change in the next kernel update.
