Ongoing tasks 1.1 Backup talks Some committee members have developed backup talks: Jan could talk on gstreamer, Jamie on Request Tracker, User Mode Linux, config management or backups, and Jeff could talk on GNOME, ldap, postfix 1.2 FAQs No updates 1.3 maddog All committee members have sudo, maddog is up to date on security 1.4 Speaker's guide No updates 1.5 Video Jan has found that talks are coming to about 8GB per hour, and will write them out to DVD. 1.6 Storage No updates 1.7 Logo comp Was announced at July meeting, currently running. 2. Review of July meeting We need to make sure well in advance that we or speakers have organisers laptops. 3. Upcoming meetings For August we have organised a SLUGlets on the kernel. For September, perhaps Rusty Russell can do a talk? Organisation of August meeting deferred to list. We brainstormed some talk ideas: - advocacy - internationalisation - desktop forum - emacs - introduction to glib - introduction to gtk - introduction to glade - history of Linux - big news in the FS world - the free software landscape - kernel walkthrough - Mono/C#/.NET - how to give a talk at SLUG - legal talks - free software in business - GRUB - government and FS - Linux 2.6 kernel 4. Upcoming events 4.1 Trivia Night On track 4.2 Securefest Geoffrey suggested a securefest. Jeff to act as committee contact. 4.3 Paintball Pia is organising another paintballing day. Jeff to act as committee contact. 4.4 Installfest Could we do an Installfest in the next month? Granville might be a good location. Could Progsoc be involved? 5.
