I've done some more digging and spoken with a few people. I'm surprised to see that Oracle themselves support storing data on an NFS system ?!?!
They do specify that you use netapp filers, but other than that it's just NFS. I'm not too worried about the overall bandwidth at this time, I've got a lot of 'proof of concept' testing to see if it'll work in practice, but it looks good so far.
