hi people,

i know this is a topic that's probably been covered, but as i only just
joined the list, i wouldn't really know.. i tried to search the list
archives first and googled a bit and whilst i've been able to find lists
of supportted wireless ethernet devices, i can't find any real advice as
to what is the best thing to go for is, based upon obviously quality and
just as importantly support by linux..

what i'm after is an 802.11g wireless pci card - in fact most of the
stuff i've found relates to pcmcia cards, so i'm not entirely sure if
what i'm after is available (of course i could also buy a pci->pcmcia
converter card, but i'm not sure about how they work in relation to
drivers either, but i guess just using the normal pcmcia drivers is the
way to go).. so, i was wondering does anyone have any experience in
setting these up, and if so could they recommend a product a buy?

i might in fact be going down the wrong road here too, as the idea is
that i want to install a wireless card in my desktop so i can network an
apple powerbook with it, but my understanding is that this would
essentially be an "adhoc" network setup and is in fact quite a standard
feature - although as i said, i could be wrong.. (in fact the desktop
will become a server/gateway, but i think i pretty much have that bit
covered).. so i'm hoping i dont have to fork out for an access point to
support essentially 1 wireless machine!

anyway, any advice is greatly appreciated, thanks :)
