I'm having trouble getting my head around using debian source packages. i want to build netatalk with some custom ./configure options, so i've downloaded the source package and done the ./configure ; make parts, all is fine. then i'm getting a little perplexed.. because i want to put all the binaries into a .deb file to install with dpkg -i. so do i do 'make install' first, which installs it all anyway, then build the .deb with dpkg-buildpackage and install it, or, what exactly? sorry if the question is a little fuzzy, i'm having a hard time putting it to google properly too. :-) any pointers appreciated..
cheers, ..S.
