AlphaGeo-News is designed for Environmentalists, Engineers, Water Authority and associated companies and pipe/cable location Professionals to keep you up to speed on applications, case histories, and evolutions in technologies.

Today's Focus:

Mala Geoscience: Easy Locator Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR); new Rough Terrain Concept (RTC) system; EXM+ Screen Release; GPR Seminars:

Today we focus on the Easy Locator GPR which is proving popular among locating & remediation companies.

The Easy Locator is a new and innovative GPR System for locating buried objects such as utilities, voids and boulders as well as for determining the depth to bedrock.

The EASY LOCATOR is an invaluable tool to help avoid hitting utilities such as gas mains or other obstacles when digging or drilling. Avoiding obstacles, whether potentially dangerous gas mains or other buried objects, prevents accidents and project delays reducing overall utility installation costs.

The EASY LOCATOR can be used in a similar fashion as traditional locators in the sense that areas may be scanned rapidly and marked without data storage. The EASY LOCATOR is priced well below any other GPR systems on the market. The system has a dedicated monitor that is easy to handle and field rugged. The EASY LOCATOR can accurately locate and determine depths to utilities of many types including pipes, cables, conduit, and duct banks in soils favorable to the GPR method. GPR in many cases is the only practical non-destructive method available to locate non-metallic or non-conductive utilities such as cast iron, PVC or other plastic pipes, concrete, and various composite pipelines as well as voids and depth to rock.

New Rough Terrain Concept (RTC) released:

The RTC offers a number of advantages over standard unshielded low-frequency systems

The concept comprises a one-piece 50 MHz Rough Terrain Antenna (RTA), a XV series monitor, the RAMAC/CUII control unit, backpack, rechargeable batteries and a triggering mechanism.

The RTC is designed to operate with one person in the most extreme environments. This is made possible due to the articulated/flexible design of the RTA. The electronics are secure inside a metal case, and the flexible antenna elements enable the system to curve and bend along a single-track profile for optimal ground-coupling even in the roughest terrains

New monitor release for the Easy Locator!

The new EXM+ monitor is a full screen trans-reflective TFT color screen for additionally improved visibility in strong sunlight. It has the same features as the Ultra Hi-Brite monitor.

GPR One-day Seminars - Mid November, 2003:

Alpha GeoInstruments is planning to hold one-day seminars in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney in the middle of November 2003.

The aim of the one day seminar is to present to people interested in Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), methods and case studies on the applications of GPR for the location of utilities, services and other targets in the sub surface.

Mr. Timothy Pippett of Alpha GeoScience Pty. Ltd, who has over twelve years of experience in the use of GPR in Australia, will be presenting the Seminars.
