A few friends of mine are considering virtual linux server providers, I'd personally like to keep the business in Australia. I haven't found many people that do this. There's www.terminus.net.au in WA for one ($250 setup $40/month 5GB HDD)
Well at least this is in the same ballpark as what hosting providers in the US are offering. I had a look at US prices for this several months ago versus a colocation with ozemail / optus and .. well my conclusions .... US folks have it cheap.
If you look at that virtual server setup though it only has 64 Meg RAM (though you can up it) and you have to add $ for your web traffic. That could add up to quite a bit per month if people start downloading lots. They also have an excess incoming data charge/MB.
