Maybe I'm over-simplifying things but the way I see it the feature set for a solid-state (small-ish) media is something along the lines of cramfs or one of those other minimalist open-source formats etc. Assuming manufacturers could agree on a format (yeh, big "IF"...can anyone say "DVD write/rewrite formats"??) the code required to write a winblows driver to suit would be relatively small. Cut M$ out, get rid of that shitty FAT12/FAT16/FAT32 format, raise awareness of OSS etc....everyone wins!


But like I said, I may be over-simplifying it :)
