Which user and which terminal are you attempting to disable it from?
root, all of the console virtual terminals.
Generally, doing so as root on one of the virtual consoles will work.
Doesn't seem to be working for me, on several boxes!
# setterm -blank 0
Do I have the syntax right?... Am I missing a paramater?... It's so un-obvious, it must be obvious!
