never_direct is the thing you want.

I haven't solved it yet. I tried this:

acl partsales dstdomain .partsales.com.au

cache_peer proxy.syd.pacific.net.au parent 8080 3130
cache_peer_access proxy.pacific.net.au allow partsales
never_direct allow partsales

And it just gives me an error - Unable to forward the request at this time.
I think it can't reach the upstream proxy.
setting proxy.syd.pacific.net.au:8080 or proxy.pacific.net.au:8080 in the browser does work - whats wrong with my cache_peer statement?
thanks for your help Rob :-)

thanks

Dave
