I tried using the 'linux.org.au' mirror for backports.org for about a month
back in November ('03) and it was PAINFULLY slow. I'm on 128K ISDN and
could only manage <2kB/sec (21kbps roughly or 1/6 of my potential
bandwidth). I've now switched back to using one of the USA mirrors (can't
remember which one) and I'm getting full 128kbps from there.
Even with an apt-proxy running, if ever there were some significant updates
(like XFree) it would take hours longer than it should given the bandwidth
I have available. Maybe it was a temporary problem that's now fixed? I
haven't tried again since. What are other people's experiences with the
linux.org.au mirror??
