Last weekend I lashed out and bought myself a new toy: A Netcomm 802.11g/b
access point (supoprts both standards and 128bit WEP too) :) I also bought
a DLink PCI WiFi card for my wife's (Win2K) PC and wheeled her machine to
the spare room. Despite traversing a bunch of walls, 1 bathroom, the
laundry and nearly 11m - her PC is happily communicating at 11Mbps.

So with the success of her machine, I'm itching to un-tether my lappy and be
able to lounge around in my favorite bean bag in front of the TV etc while
I work. So given the limited driver support under Linux what have people
*had success* with? I don't have mega-bucks to spend ($100-150 tops) and
would be quite happy with an 802.11b (11Mbps) card. After all, if I REALLY
need more, I can simply plug in the Xircom 100Mbps card and hammer away in
my study.

Any war stories, but particularly success stories welcome.

For the record, yes I've enabled WEP using a 128bit key, AND put the access
point in a DMZ on it's own AND used a rather cryptic SSID; so no point
war-driving my house OK? :P If I start getting people (not necessarily
from here) poking around my WiFi network, I'll just add IPsec to the
equation and that should be the end of it - right? Any other security
measures I should consider?
