Dear list,
I just purchased a new Epsom C43UX printer as my old Canon finally died on
Thursday. I have a dual boot system w2K and Mandrake 9.1 and I thought I
would install the printer under windoze as I had all the drivers and software
from the CD.
Stupid me. I unpacked the printer and plugged it into the USB ports,
installed the software etc. Then I tried to print a test page, not go.
Check the cables fine, restart, no go, remove printer and reinstall and still
not working. After 20 minutes I checked the ports, the print was set tp
LPT1 not USB. Google time, you need to remove LPT1 and change to USB in the
ports of the printer properties. I did not have a USB port on the printer
properties. Forty five minutes later it still not working.
Stuff it I 'll try it under Mandrake, I choose an Epson as they are supported
well under Linux. Ran Printdrake 60 seconds later it have found the printer
but it did not know what driver to use. Selected Epson C42UX, it
autocofigured the apps to use the new printer. Total time under 2 mins. Time
under W2K about 45 mins and it does not work even with ALL the drivers and
software.
Anyone for an easy OS???
