[SLUG] Disabling colours in xterm

hi All,

        How do I disable the coloured fonts that display in 
        my xterm (rh 9.x) ? It was cool once .. but now it is
        getting annoying. 

        Or alternatively, is there a way to select my own colours
        for different file types ? (less preferred option)
