The only real issues that I have experienced is with moving to a 2.6.x kernel (2.6.3 in final). First obvious problem was with sound. Had to change from OSS to the ALSA module for my sound card. I also had usb timeout issues with my HP Scanjet 4100c scanner under 2.6.3 using the libusb driver (the usbscanner driver has been removed from 2.6.3) - I solved this by installing vuescan for Linux.
