It was also on Slashdot :) Here's an executive summary:
$LUSER journo tries to install Xandros on "mainstream" Intel chipset with
embedded audio. Audio doesn't work reliably. $LUSER extrapolates this to
mean Linux is languishing in the Windows3.x days coz Windows95 could drive
the sound card. Much postulating and dead chicken waving ensues.....you
get the idea.
*YAWN*....next.
No offence to you Shaun, I'm not shooting the messenger :) I'm just tired
of non-tech people making a technical analysis of an entire operating
system and development model based on one experience (good or bad).
There's more to Linux (and F/OSS) than hearing "PLING!" when you click on a
widget in X! :P

According to $LUSER journo he paid for Xandros and their pricing is about as
much as a WinXP *upgrade* ("upgrade" would imply an existing full license
somewhere for full license $$$....but let's not go there) so he should be
entitled to expect similar functionality. Well, that's probably fair, *IF*
THE MANUFACTURERS WOULD PLAY NICE WITH LINUX!! Is it the fault of Linux
(Linus Torvalds/Alan Cox/....etc) that equipment "ABC" doesn't have a Linux
driver? Or should we expect the manufacturer of "ABC" to write the
driver?? Heck, I don't care if it's a binary-only driver (ala NVidia) or
an open sourced driver neatly grafted into the mainstream kernel! It's up
to *manufacturers* to start realising there's more to the computer market
the Windows. Can anyone say "Centrino"?

A "critic" is a man who creates nothing and thereby feels qualified to judge
the work of creative men. There is logic in this; he is unbiased -- he hates
all creative people equally.
