I was going to ask about S.M.A.R.T drive monitoring under linux the other day and instead of doing so I did some research and was surprised with what I found.
If anyone is remotely interested in monitoring his or her IDE drives then I recommend you take a look at the following tools available from; http://smartmontools.sourceforge.net/ And for an interesting read from someone who uses the tools check out; http://www.linuxjournal.com/article.php?sid=6983 So far I am very impressed, it's good to see some excellent tools available. - Michael Fox PS.
