I've run in to troubles where all the m4 includes are not being picked up. This means when you build the cf file from the mc files, certain config bits aren't built in properly. I'd suggest searching the cf files to ensure things like /etc/mail/ldap-domains are at least mentioned in there somewhere. Other then that I'm not real sure. As an aside, have you looked at MIMEDefang? Built into sendmail as a milter I find it a lot more powerful and easier to use then mailscanner, ymmv. Whilst I don't use LDAP, there are plenty of people on the MD mailing list who do.
