I need to edit some ISO Latin2 characters on a remote RH web server over SSH;

I've managed to configure SSH client (on a non-linux) system so that I can
type the (Right-Alt-character) I need, and, the correct ISO-L2 accented
character appears on SSH command line, but, as soon as I invoke 'mc' or
'vi' I can no longer enter the (Right-Alt-character) accented characters
(or even paste them)

what/where do I need to configure ? I guess I need a translation table
like I did for ssh client ?
