Because when you dont have any knowledge of networking machines then wouldnt 
you think its even harder to setup masquerading on a linux box along with figuring 
out how to connect the machines?

Along with installing a new network card when probably not having done this before.

~$95 is not alot to spend on a router that will be guarunteed to work 99.9% of the 
time. Without the pain of trying to learn iptables and masquerading.
