Gavin and Del,

Better.

Returns work if you include a return statement, and Gavins suggestion. That works.

Data::Dumper hmmm this is a test script. When I cann't get something working I write them to get a section working.

In a 1D array I'd order using sort. This is 2D. My brain wave was as this was a 2D array write a routine to work through the 2D and insert the new data in the correct position and return.

What I found was the "data dissappeared" so wrote a test script and use print statements to track what is happening.

OK Made Gavins changes, went back to Programming Perl. Tried all kinds of positions for the arrows. Still blank.

I know I'm close which is why I'm getting frustrated. And thanks for the help so far, just getting suggestions helps.

Further ideas greatfully appreciated.

Regards,

Ashley
