The BSD license lets people (and corps like microsoft) use your code for their own benefit, without give anything back to the community or individual who created the sofwtare. Ken Brown (the Alexis de Tourqville idiot) LOVES the BSD license which I'm sure is exactly what microsoft has told him to say. > I know there are thousands of licenses I would like to classify them: > > a) BSD like - use how you want includes Public Domain. I don't like it for the stuff I write, but it is still appropriate for some things. For instance, its unlikely Ogg/Vorbis would have had as big a takeup on portable players if it was LGPL or GPL. > b) LGPL like - for libraries. I have released a library under the LGPL. Its is also available under a commercial use license for use with closed source. I have so far had three takers on this with almost no publicity. I'm not getting rich this way, but it more than pays for bandwidth and the ocassional piece of cheap hardware. > For the record. I believe that LGPL is the only true Open Source > license.
