There's a no starch book which I haven't read called "Wicked Cool Shell Scripts" All the example scripts are here: http://www.intuitive.com/wicked/wicked-cool-shell-script-library.shtml including a link to a tarball of all of them. They're nicely commented, you can probably learn all you would want by going through 2 or 3 a day which would take about 10 minutes. googling bourne shell (tutorial OR howto) seems like it's fairly productive as well.
