Gday all, im new to the list so just thought I'd say Hi.. also, ive just moved from redhat to gentoo and am loving it.. except for the fact that it doesnt seem to shutdown properly ie. when I run 'shutdown -h now' or 'poweroff' it goes through its normal stuff and ends with "Power Down." and just hangs, whereas before it would power the machine down...
I wonder if i'm missing something, ive tried recompiling the kernel with both APM and ACPI both as modules and built-in but have had no luck.. I've also tried it with the real-mode bios poweroff bizzo in apm. Any light someone could shed on my little problem would be nice :) Cheers, Mike Linux vimes 2.4.26-00.5 #1 SMP Tue Aug 3 11:53:25 EST 2004 i686 Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 2.00GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux ps. on signing this email i realise that ive compiled the kernel with the SMP option, and i seem to recall reading somewhere that APM doesnt work with SMP, but im sure the out-of-the-box redhat kernel was SMP.. anyway.. we'll see how it goes.. -- Mike Wright [EMAIL PROTECTED]
