Hi, > What vnc are people using-deploying?
Definitely tightvnc. I've just been getting tightvnc server running on a SUSE 9.0 laptop (toshiba a10), apparently it's implemented in java on that distro. It's takes a little longer to load. There are some issues with keyboard layout though, which I think are to do with the laptop. I've also used it to connect to an XP box.
