Sorry, should have read ahead.
My system has a Gigabyte 2004RZ board with a Radeon 7500 Video card, two IDE HDDs, a samsung CDRW and an old 40X CDROM (soon to be replaced with a DVDRW) and Linux supports everything "out of the box" so to speak. I'm using SuSE 9.1 professional.
