I had a similar thing today with an RPM database on redhat EL3 - I think it uses sleepycat DB4 type files as well. rpm -qa and stuff would just stop half way through.
anyway, there was some lock files that needed removing ___db4* I think.
maybe you have some of them? there might also be some sleepycat db repairing type tools you can use - rpm comes with a bunch of them.
whats the best/recommended way to backup these ldap databases anyway? dump to ldif every now and then? I would have thought copying the raw files would be fine, but you always run the risk of getting caught in the middle of a db write i spose.
