The other option is to use some sort of router that logs on to telstra for you. I'm currently using a Netgear Wireless AP & router which I set up using mozilla on linux and it works really well. http://bpalogin.sourceforge.net/ is the bpalogin page. For downloads I think I remember reading that the original version was based on some perl scripts that were written by some dude who was contracting to telstra. So maybe the protocol wasn't actually reverse engineered as such. Maybe even Telstra techies tacitly supporting alternative OSs even though Telstra won't officially support them..?
