One method used by some games is... both ends need to identify the external ip of the other end, and decide on a port number. A common server, or a directory service can do this. Then both ends simply start sending udp packets to the other end, on the decided udp port. Most NAT devices will accept return traffic on the same udp port from the destination. Rob
